Anna Maria Maiolino
Anna Maria Maiolino is a Brazilian artist known for her multidisciplinary practice encompassing sculpture, drawing, performance, and installation. Her work often explores themes of memory, identity, language, and the human body, frequently reflecting on displacement and personal history. Maiolino has played a vital role in Latin American contemporary art since the 1970s.
Sem título, da série Da Terra - Errância Poética (2014) is part of a series engaging with notions of wandering and poetic errancy, materializing the tension between permanence and transience. Using cast aluminum, Maiolino contrasts the solidity of the medium with the ephemeral nature of the ideas she investigates, producing a contemplative object that bridges the poetic and the physical.
Maiolino’s work has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art, and the Tate Modern in London. She is recognized as a pioneering figure in Brazilian conceptual art.
